Our strategy for traffic flow in this Washington, DC area kitchen was to design it such that the dining area of the island was separated from the cooking area. No tripping the chef! The Miele whole bean built-in coffee system is in close proximity to the kitchen island and the desk. The infrequently used second oven is positioned out of the way, leaving more room for storage in the cooking area, as is the clients' collection of crystal.
We designed this chef's kitchen for a new construction home in the Washington, DC area. Our longtime clients were focused on function first, then aesthetics. We designed an efficient work triangle for meal prep, cooking, and baking. Copious drawers provide well-organized storage for dishes, pot and pans, and utensils. Our clients requested that we incorporate copper into the kitchen design. The custom copper hood is the focal point of the kitchen. It has stainless steel rivets to marry the kitchen's metals.
The copper of the tapered custom hood in this Vienna, VA custom kitchen is repeated in the light fixtures, faucet, and cabinetry hardware. The multi-color slate backsplash tile is accented with copper insert tiles. In this carefully planned kitchen design, the microwave drawer is in the island perimeter, close to the seating area for quick warm-ups. There are cabinets underneath the seating area for storage of seldomly used items.
This chef's kitchen renovation in Farmington, CT, resulted in a large gathering space, bringing the historic home up-to-date for the client's lifestyle. White cabinets with traditional design elements are a perfect foil for the large format marble tiles and polished nickel counter stools. The basket-weave stainless steel apron front sink is the hardworking star of the island design.
We completely transformed this formerly dreary outdated kitchen in Farmington, CT, into a light-filled sophisticated space. Although the white cabinet details have a traditional feel, the iconic mid-century tulip table and Breuer chairs feel fresh. The far wall features a coffee station with a plumbed-in cappuccino/ espresso machine.
An arched wood exhaust hood, enhanced with corbels, makes for a stunning focal point over the cooktop. in this Farmington, CT kitchen. The marble basket weave tile is a design element repeated from the apron front sink. A microwave drawer is safe and convenient. Every detail matters, hence the fluted polished nickel bin pulls.
Our design project for this gourmet kitchen in Naples, FL was to personalize it to my clients' taste. My clients purchased this model home in the Quail West community. To take it from neutral to wow, we used pops of cobalt blue. We selected the rounded blue glass pendants first, which kick-started our color scheme. The counter stools are upholstered in a blue and white abstract outdoor fabric for practicality.
The walnut range hood adds warmth to this gourmet kitchen. My clients purchased this model home in Naples, FL, then engaged Sharon McCormick Design to customize it to their taste. We changed the generic lighting to eye-catching cobalt blue orb pendants. Blue and white counter schools and glass decanters which catch the light further the color scheme.
Ivory handcrafted ceramic tiles glint on the backsplash and create a subtle pattern to highlight the impressive custom wood hood with corbels in this Fairfield County kitchen. The oil-rubbed bronze pot filler faucet is mounted on the countertop rather than the wall to keep inset backsplash intact.
This gourmet kitchen in New Fairfield, CT boasts all the bells and whistles! The rich walnut island with a double ogee edge and shaped corners is mirrored by the ceiling soffit. Traditional design elements such as pillars, pilasters, and corbels add the Old World elegance the clients desired. The glass topped ivory cabinet detail show off collectibles. The counter stools are custom-upholstered and comfortable. An arched window valance adds softness and a contrast to all the hard surfaces one finds in a kitchen.
An eat-in kitchen was a priority for this busy family of seven in New Fairfield, CT which makes togetherness at mealtimes a priority. We scoured our to-the-trade resources to locate a large square walnut table with upholstered chairs we could customize. The banquette bench is custom-made to our specifications and has a leather seat cushion.
