Dining Room Interior Design in West Hartford CT
In this West Hartford, CT dining room update, my clients already owned the classic dining set and Oriental rug, but wanted to add some drama to the room. Playing off of a beautiful light aqua color woven into the rug, we ensconced the room in this peaceful hue. A gorgeous silk fabric embroidered with colorful Oriental birds was selected for the goblet-pleated window treatments, which break gracefully onto the floor. Metallic gold and aqua wallpaper reflects light and adds an intriguing and unexpected element. The ceiling was treated with a custom round medallion wallpapered in shimmery gold, set off by blue paint.
The family had inherited two sets of gorgeous antique white and gold leaf china and crystal, which were rarely enjoyed due to the headache of unpacking/ repacking it for each use. The addition of a stunning onyx curio cabinet with graceful champagne mullions and contemporary lines holds six sparkling place settings of china and crystal readily available for family dinners. A black and gold buffet cabinet nestles in the bay window to hold table linens and silverware. Its classic lines are updated in transitional style with tapered legs, paneled drawer fronts and a circular medallion.
Lighting is always an essential component of my designs. The addition of wall sconces and buffet lamps creates soft pools of light, conducive to great conversation. The lit interior of the curio cabinet just glows. With the addition of candlelight in the evening, the stage is set for many memorable dinners to come.
